Several weeks ago I purchased several CDs to help me learn breathing, relaxation, meditation and imagery to prepare for surgery for spinal stenosis. This particular CD is one of the best. I've used it repeatedly before and after surgery. I believe this has helped me to make a good and speedy recovery. -- Very Helpful
As the stressed out mother of two, I had tried my old faithfuls for relief. Exercise only helped while I was doing it. A hot bath only lasted as long as the water was hot. A full body massage is not exactly cost effective. Then I found "Creating Calm In Your Life: A Guided Meditation and Stress Reduction CD" by Rivka Simmons and found my new touchstone. Her voice soothes while her deliberate words keep you from drifing too far. It does not cause drowsiness but a relaxation of all the muscle groups along with the mind. Doing each section as needed, or even as an entire cd can be just what the doctor ordered. I recommend this cd for anyone new to meditation looking for a link in the chain of helping to reconnect the mind and body. Her skill as a leader makes me wish I lived close enough to attend one of her sessions in person. Try it, you'll like it! -- One Voice
I bought this CD five years ago to prepare for surgery. I listened to the guided meditation every days for the two months before surgery to help me get in a restful place. On the day of the surgery in the preparation room, my surgeon said he had never seen someone so calm. I recovered more quickly than most people and I believe a big contribution to that was the emotional state I was able to be in as a result of the CD. Since then I've continued to use this CD on a regular basis. Rivka's voice is very calming and she provides enough pauses in her guided sessions that you can slip into a meditative state. Her sessions are also around 15 minutes, which is much more managable amount of time to dedicate. On a bad day at work, I can sneak away fro 15 minutes to listen and become refocused. -- This is the only meditation CD you need
This C.D. was recommended to me by a cardiac nurse at MGH. It is a great c.d. to guide in relaxation. In my experience, it was more relaxing to practice lying down with a pillow under my neck and knees and covered with a light blanket rather than just sitting. After 20 minutes of practice you will feel like you just got back from vacation; calm and relaxed. -- Creating Calm in your life
I have never meditated before and found this Cd very helpful. I really liked the calm voice and instructions. I have a job that is very stressful and doing these meditations before work has been great. I have even found myself doing techniques to calm myself at work. The 15 min segments are perfect ,that's about all the time I can squeeze into my morning routine. If I do have a critism, it is that the second segment is too much like the first one. I think it is a wonderful meditation CD to try for first time meditators like myself.
