I don't readily hand out 5-star reviews, in fact I don't readily hand out reviews at all, but this album is so good, I had to speak up. The people behind this should be very proud of what they've done because they've managed to create something that's accessible to kids (my 3-and-a-half-year-old loves it) and downright enjoyable for parents (I love it!). The songs are so well-crafted and well-played that many of these tracks would easily sit on an album for adults... if adults were singing, anyway ;-). And I'd love to know where they got the kids who sing on this because they do a great job. (I thought it might be adult women doing kids voices as you often hear in cartoons, but some of these voices are just too child-like to be adults.)

Each song is its own little journey. The styles are all over the map which really keeps things interesting, and I'm surprised how convincingly they do some of this stuff ("Castaways" is a bossa that could easily appear on any adult latin jazz recording). The songs aren't merely fun, they're downright good!

I think what I appreciate most is that the creators of this didn't pander. They made it fun and accessible, but they clearly spent time crafting thoughtful melodies and arrangements... unlike many other kids albums where the quality of writing, arranging, and performance is mediocre on a good day.

So, if you're like me and have been going a little crazy listening to sub-par, dumbed-down music, do yourself and your children a favor and get this CD. -- Kids AND parents can enjoy this

This CD is a great companion to the videos. I carry the CDs in my car. My entire family watches the Backyardigans videos. It started out with my now 3 year old granddaughter. But I caught one of my older grandsons watching one of the videos (we have them all) when the little one was not around. -- all in the family

My cousins, who love to watch The Backyardigans, were not as happy with this soundtrack as I hoped. I think it's because they didn't recognize a lot of the songs. I need to get them to listen to it more and it may grow on them. -- not the kid pleaser i hoped for

This cd is great. My little girl enjoys listening to the music as she loves the show. -- Backyardigans at its best!!!!!!!!!!
